Harlem Housing Advocacy Group, Inc. was incorporated with the New York State Secretary of State effective January 27, 2017.
THIRD: The purpose or purposes for which the corporation is formed are as follows:
(i) To solicit support for its charitable purposes and activities from the general public, including, without limitation, individuals, businesses, foundations and other charitable organizations, and governmental or quasi-governmental organizations;
(ii) To provide remedy to the “breaches of law” that occurred when buildings seized by the City of New York per in rem taxation were transferred to sponsors for tenants via “housing development companies”;
(iii) To provide a membership organization for households located in “housing development companies” buildings (renters, coop and condo owners) and small property owners that have financing secured under the various Articles of the New York State Housing Finance Law including Article 11 and Article 15;
(iv) To provide education and information to all residents regardless of renter or ownership status;
(v) To empower residents to preserve the on-going affordability of current and future housing for low and middle income, senior and disabled persons in the City of New York;
(vi) To promote the preservation of income limits to enable the sustainability of affordable housing;
(vii) To promote the elimination of cash payments that void income requirements;
(viii) To advocate and ensure that finance procurement vehicles formulated by quasi-governmental agencies under the auspices of the New York State Private Housing Finance Law are transparent and legal and do not limit residents right to own and control their property and benefit thereof;
(ix) To inform residents and ensure that affordable housing and the building of equity and wealth is balanced;
(x) To inform residents and ensure that they are not “priced out of their homes” through fraudulent loans and financial schemes;
(xi) To provide outreach to housing development fund corporations (HDFC) that are in jeopardy because of financial or maintenance mismanagement;
(xii) To provide education that enhance the responsibilities of home ownership;
(xiii) To promote the right to directly own and manage property ceded to residents by purchase through various City of New York “In Rem” Programs; .
(xiv) To promote the eradication of Regulatory Agreements that nullify residents’ rights to own and control their property and to benefit thereof;
(xv) To promote a matter of public policy to stop the City of New York from revoking ownership through odious foreclosure schemes.
